| Workshops & Demonstrations - Bawdsey & Hylands House for 2010/2011
Workshop Students Comments:- "given me great confidence"...Carolynn George "lovely day!"... Barbara Langer "I like the way you continuously go around each person in the group giving advice, help, suggestions etc. and I think it is right to give beginners priority and more time to start with".....Lynne Harris
Hylands House After a sellout day lthis Spring I am hoping to arrange another day workshop at this beautifully restored manor house on the outskirts of Chelmsford in the grounds of Hylands Park. Cost £25. Please bring your own art materials - paper, paints, field easel etc. - keep it lightweight! Good quality paper is available on the day. Please also bring your own lunch and drinks although both are available at the restaurant, good walking shoes and waterproofs (oh that English weather!) Coffee, tea and biscuits will be available. Places do sell fast and there are limited numbers. More dates to come for 2011 - watch this space.
Bawdsey Manor Following a successful 2008 and 2009 I have two more weekends arranged for 2010. This is a 2-day residential workshop for beginners and improvers alike in their chosen media. On the Essex - Suffolk border, this delightful 1890's manor house and its grounds and surroundings are on the estuary of the River Deben, just 9 miles from Woodbridge. A truly perfect place to paint without having to travel too far. The course begins at 16.30 on the first afternoon with a tour of the Manor, estate and gardens, or if you prefer you could join on Saturday at 09.30. See adult courses on www.bawdseymanor.co.uk for more details or see my links page or contact me. Please note that generally the minimum number for the weekend is 6. Friday 17th September (14.30 hrs start time) to Sunday 19th September (finish approx 16.00 hrs) Accomodation Prices held over from previous year! Full Board Accomodation - Two sharing one room per night £110 Single room per night £85 Tuition fee per person £60
Workshop and demonstration recent history - Thorndon Countryside Park hosted one day workshops over several years in all media to 2008. Other workshops have included - in October 2005 a full day pastel workshop for the Essex Art Group (two artists have now been to the studio for further one-to-one workshops) and in July 2006 a full day workshop with Southend Art Group at their summer base on the Roche estuary at Brook Farm . Demonstrations have included in January 2005 my "fragmented art" using a sketch done in Australia for the Ongar Art Society, in February - Italian Landscapes to Boreham Art Circle, in March - Italian Landscapes to Roche Art Group. In January 2006 - Italian Landscapes to Southend Art Group, in March - Woodland in Spring for the Ilford Art Group, in November back to Boreham for a half day workshop - "Hot and Cold" - a look at the feel of "colour" and in December Ongar invited me back for a Christmas demonstration. In 2007 I returned to Ilford Art Group for "Summer" in pastels and the English Landscape for Southend Art Group also in pastels. Orpington Art Group also asked for a pastel demonstration in February which went very well and led to two further visits to Kent being organised for 2008. Southend Art Group invited me back for a workshop at their summer base on the Roche estuary at Brook Farm. Bishops Stortford Art Group delved into "Fragmentation" with Pastels and tutorials for three new groups were undertaken in the autumn, two in Danbury and another at Hatfield Peveril. In May 2005 - I went to a school in Writtle to do a short demonstration and workshop with year 12 and 13 students (24 in all). Everyone, including their teacher, Claire Fulcher seemed to enjoy themselves. I believe I helped these students break the mold set by the current curriculum by showing them some different mark making and inspire them to paint what they felt. Official feedback was very positive and in 2006 I was invited back to another well received workshop. The students now call me "Uncle Trev" and have asked me to go back or even visit monthly .....now there's a thing! I am now the resident tutor for the Hatfield Peveril Art Group
visiting them monthly or when needed with the
occasional demonstration. The Griffin and Freyja Art Groups of Danbury have a rolling
group of tutors and have invited me back in 2010 and I trust I will see them
again in 2011. Copyright Trevor William Harwood 2007-11 ~ Terms and Conditions |
