Painting Holidays - FRANCE, ITALY and PORTUGAL

 South West France

The farm house with pigeonier and the three gites

Join me in the peacefulness and beauty of the surrounding countryside of Manzac d’en Bas in South West France with hosts Giles & Louise - the ideal location for a painting holiday.

The painting holiday run in 2009 was a great success and I have a date for next year Friday 25th June to Friday 2nd July 2010.  This is later than 2009 and Giles hopes the sunflowers will be out making it a perfect time to visit.  Once again, as it is a week day start participants can take advantage of cheaper flights, Ryanair fly regularly from Stanstead to Carcassonne at good prices.  Flights to Toulouse are also available.

The spacious nature of the accommodation and facilities at Manzac d’en Bas makes this an ideal location for artists as well as husbands / wives / partners to enjoy a relaxing holiday at Manzac with everything that it and the surrounding area has to offer.  This venue has already proved to be very popular.  Visit Giles & Louise Nevill’s website www.manzac.com for much more information.

Accommodation

3 x double rooms with en-suite bathrooms

4 x twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms

1 x twin room sharing a bathroom

The price of the art holiday will be approximately £630 all inclusive of accommodation and tuition plus breakfast, lunch and dinner with wine, afternoon tea, coffee and biscuits, (excludes flights and local transport and two meals). This is a slight increase on 2009 due to unfavourable Euro/Sterling Exchange rates.  N.B. Prices are to be shortly quoted in Euro's no sterling will be taken for 2010 due to a change in status for Manzac

The accommodation element of this can be reduced by 20% (circa £70) if you choose to share a room, have a single room or share a bathroom.  The minimum number of participants for 2010 is 10.  Non-painting partners are very welcome and also receive a discount.  Please let me know if you are interested early to avoid disappointment.  A deposit of circa £150 will guarantee you can join us.

North West Italy

New for 2010.

Nestling in the hills above the medieval town of Dolceacqua in western Liguria, north west Italy, less than half an hour from the sea and from the French border, in the foothills of the Ligurian Alps is the enchanting Villatalla Guest House.  Why not join me there with hosts Roger and Marina in May when the Riviera is in full bloom and at its most colourful.

Close to the fabulous coastal resorts of the Italian Riviera and the French Cote d'Azur (also Monte Carlo), the pretty perched villages in the mountains, and the famous mountain walking trail known as the Alta Via, a walker's paradise, immersed in nature, with stunning views of mountains and valleys.

There will be daily excursions to some of the most stunning painting locations, from the amazing medieval villages such as Dolceacqua (where the bridge over the river was painted twice by Claude Monet) and Apricale a little further up the valley, to the Riviera town of Bordighera (where we can spend the morning painting in the same private gardens, in exactly the same spot, that Monet did), and the beautiful Hanbury Gardens that sweep down to the sea.

With 5 comfortable double bedrooms (4 can be made into twin), all with private bathrooms (showers) and direct access to a balcony or terrace, sitting room, terraced gardens, and large swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas, Villatalla is the perfect base for a painting holiday. (See www.villatalla.com for photos and more details)

Portugal

New for 2010 - the weeks holiday is still awaiting a confirmed date, please let me know if you are interested.

The location - the old port of Olhao, east of Faro in Portugal.   Set in the heart of Olhao's protected historic area one can find the Olhao Art School, a purpose-built development and the brainchild of our host David.  Just 30 minutes from easily accessible Faro this beautifully renovated set of adjoining properties is an ideal location for a painting holiday.   With vaulted ceilings, Roman brick work, three courtyards and an olive tree (believed to be over 150 years old), the school has been restored offering an exceptional space for artistic creativity.

There is something romantic about the building with the beautiful light outside filtering through from the large windows and courtyards adding to it’s charm.  There is an abundance of old features and is a fantastic place to gather inspiration.  The Art School can comfortably accommodate up to 10 artists and a teacher.
